MEET THE CREW

The North 40 staff is a dedicated bunch of folks, and we want you to know all about it.  Read our Bio's to learn more about our knowledge, our passion for food, and maybe a strange fact or two.

This may be the most fame we ever get (and we're good with that).

Melissa, CEO

Melissa is the founder of North 40.  She is also a mother, a baker, and vintage apron hoarder.  She holds a BA from The Evergreen State College in film production and gender studies, and an M. Ed from Western Washington University in Student Affairs Administration.  She is a certified chocolatier and Better Process Control School graduate.

Melissa founded North 40 after she was unable to expand her popular baking business, Plume Bake Shop, with a limited budget and short credit history.  She soon found that this is a common problem among young entrepreneurs and startup food businesses.   Seeing no other available options, she opened North 40 as a means to combine her two passions: good food and social justice.  She is also excited to put her extensive apron collection to good use.

Tara, Processing Assistant

Tara is currently a student at Western Washington University pursuing a degree in Political Science. When she's not busy with homework, she's either in the kitchen cooking up a storm or enjoying the outdoors. Her interest in North 40 stems from an interest in homesteading and desire to live a self-sufficient life. She has an open mind and is always interested in new opportunities to learn, apply an pass on skills.
