Welcome

We think buying local should be easy and fun.  That's why we've done the work to find the highest quality, locally made foods and home goods around.  All of the products sold through salt & thistle were made with sustainable practices, donate profits to worthy causes, or both.  And they are ALWAYS made here.  We make sure to get behind our local vendors and help market for them so they have the best opportunities to reach local consumers.

You deserve better
food.

Local is Good

We believe that supporting small communities keeps us all happier, healthier, and more secure.  That's why our main purpose is to create a closed loop food system: so that all of the community's resources remain in the community, thereby boosting the value of the entire region.  We call it the foodshed approach.

"Contributing to the health, wealth and pride of our rural communities through increased local food consumption"

Community is Good

We support our community by promoting education, expediting rural growth, honoring collaboration, and valuing our local resources.

We preserve farming culture by increasing the farmers' share of profits, advocating for our small towns, establishing a closed loop food system, and demonstrating seasonal preservation techniques.
